More Than a Name. A Dream Realized.

ASAC’s Lost & Found Recovery Center is inspired by Michael “Mikey” Emberlin.

Mikey struggled for most of his life with a substance use disorder, but that didn’t stop him from thinking about, caring for, and helping others.

Erasing Stigma. Instilling Strength.

As he went in and out of various treatment programs over many years, Mikey wanted something different. His dream was to help people feeling lost because of substance use.

He envisioned a better path, a better way, a better life. Mikey dreamed of one day creating a space where anyone could find the help they needed, free of judgement. A place where people could be themselves to find themselves. Somewhere that took all the things that were wrong in other places and made them right.

Mikey wanted this as much as he wanted his own sobriety.

Sadly, he wouldn’t live to see it.

Mikey passed away at 28 from an overdose. Another life lost to substance use. It felt like a tragic ending. But his story was far from over.

Finding Meaning

After Mikey’s passing, three of his close friends chose to start on their path toward recovery. His family told his story so that others knew they weren’t alone. His loved ones shared their memories. They worked to create meaning from his death.

“I help with the fight to stop the stigma and to help prevent other deaths that are preventable. He will never be forgotten.” -Sandy Emberlin (Michael’s Mom)

Then, ASAC heard about Mikey and his hope for people experiencing their own struggles with substance use. Mikey used to talk about “watching for the miracle.” The miracle is that we discovered his story. His purpose found us. And because of that, his wish now exists. His vision can save so many more lives—a dream now realized.

Lost & Found

This recovery center is a safe place for anyone to come as they are and work to reclaim the best version of themselves. Where we look beyond the addiction to see the person and their potential. Everyone’s missing piece is different, so we provide the custom resources and long-term plans to get better.

When I Found ASAC

Lost & Found. Here to honor Mikey. Here to help others. Because when people find ASAC, they start to regain what was lost to substance use.
