What is Outpatient Treatment?

Outpatient treatment offers flexibility by allowing individuals to receive care while living at home and continuing with daily responsibilities. This enables people to work and remain close to family and friends.

Outpatient treatment is self-paced and patients participate for varying lengths of time based on individual needs and assessment recommendations. Group sessions are available at different times throughout the week.

ASAC provides three forms of outpatient treatment:

Intensive Outpatient Services

Provide a higher level of support than standard outpatient services. This typically includes a structured schedule, multiple sessions per week, and more frequent contact with counselors.

""

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)/Day Treatment Services

This multidisciplinary approach provides in-person care to patients several hours each day, typically 5-7 days a week. Often combining medical care with counseling and other support services, patients experience structured treatment while being able to return home at night. This service is currently available at two locations: Dubuque and Clinton (New Beginnings)

Peer Recovery Coaches

Each patient is paired with a Peer Recovery Coach who provides further support and guidance. Peer Recovery Coaches have lived experience as past patients, offering empathy and mentorship on the path toward long-term recovery.

Do You Need Outpatient Care?

To begin receiving care with ASAC, patients must first complete a substance use disorder or problem gambling assessment. After this is complete, your counselor will discuss appropriate treatment options with you.
